I binge read my way through the books before this one. When this one arrived, it leaped to the top of my TBR stack. Picked up the book, started reading and the next thing I knew, I was done with the story. Now it is a matter of waiting.....not so calmly....for the next book to come out. Love the growing cast of characters that she interacts with to work out a possible motive for what is happening. The little “factoids” at the start of each chapter are really interesting. More, please!!! This K-9 unit is awesome. The cases each story brings us are unique, vivid and at time gut wrenching. The addition to a small group who like to go explore decaying buildings was fascinating. Hawk is the MVP and I love his role more and more with each book.This can be read as a stand-alone but to truly appreciate the characters and relationships I would recommend reading them in order. This story brought more depth to McCord and Webb’s characters and feelings which I am here for. I wondered as well about the living situation so that was great to see brought up in this story. I cheered when we got to see the profiler again, great character, and Craig is the silent MVP with his role.I find this a fun series full of rich characters and a wide array of suspense and emotions.
